I usually don’t suggest blowing up a team until after Week 4. There are always scenarios where you could start to making big changes, especially when injuries occur to your top picks.
I believe the Arizona Cardinals could be a source of some great fantasy players this season. You have quarterback, wide receiver, and a tight end that could all be within the top-ten for their positions at the end of the year.
Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of QB Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals.
I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.
START’EM
- QB Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals) – Murray found out that he has a special talent in rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. in their win over the Rams. He has a tougher task this week against the Lions, but he should put up solid numbers again.
- WR Brandon Aiyuk (San Francisco 49ers) – The Niners appears that they will be without WR Deebo Samuel and RB Christian McCaffrey, so Aiyuk will see a lot more action. He’s been rather quiet so far this season, but he will have his best week of the season.
- TE Brock Bowers (Las Vegas Raiders) – The Raiders offense is running through TE Brock Browers and WR Davante Adams. The rookie tight end is talented as hell and is always a mismatch out there.
- RB Carson Steele (Kansas City Chiefs) – This is more of a deeper league pick, but Steele has tackle-breaking power that can be used at the goal-line. I know the Chiefs signed RB Kareem Hunt and has RB Samaje Perine on the roster, but I think Steele ends up in the end zone against the Falcons.
- QB Derek Carr (New Orleans Saints) – Is Carr resurrecting his career in New Orleans? He’s been fantastic so far, being smart with the ball. It helps that he has a healthy RB Alvin Kamara.
- Los Angeles Chargers & Special Teams – The Chargers travel to Pittsburgh on Sunday, and Steelers QB Justin Fields isn’t lighting the world on fire. I think the Chargers will limit them to a low-scoring effort.
- WR Jameson Williams (Detroit Lions) – Williams has been unbelievable so far, and he faces a rather aged secondary in Arizona. He should continue his hot streak in Week 3.
- RB Chuba Hubbard (Carolina Panthers) – The Panthers benched QB Bryce Young in favor of veteran QB Andy Dalton. Listen, I have not been a Dalton fan, but the offense will be better with him in the game. Hubbard will see more snaps and his numbers should reflect.
- TE Trey McBride (Arizona Cardinals) – I’ve been high on McBride all season, and now that rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. had a breakout game, teams will need to focus on stopping him, thus giving McBride more single-coverage.
- WR Brian Thomas Jr. (Jacksonville Jaguars) – It’s clear that the Bills secondary isn’t at to the same level as in previous years. Thomas has a ton of talent and it’s time for the Jaguars to give him more than four targets this week.
- RB J.K. Dobbins (Los Angeles Chargers) – Dobbins is healthy and showing what he can do on the field. The Chargers run the ball so much that it wouldn’t surprise me if backup RB Gus Edwards becomes a consistent fantasy back as well. Dobbins does have a tough opponent in Pittsburgh, but I still think he shines.
- New York Jets Defense & Special Teams – The Jets host the Patriots on Thursday Night Football. New England’s offense isn’t horrible with QB Jacoby Brissett under center, but the Jets defense is very good. There are just too many mismatches out there.
SIT’EM
- RB Javonte Williams (Denver Broncos) – I was thought Williams was going to be a game-altering running back in the league, he may still be one day, but the Broncos offense doesn’t do him any favors. The Broncos will need to throw the ball against the Bucs, as I expect them to be down early.
- QB Justin Herbert (Los Angeles Chargers) – Herbert is currently listed as questionable, and even if he was healthy, the offense is different now. They have moved to a run-focused offense, but he will get the keys if they need to make a big comeback at some point this year.
- WR Allen Lazard (New York Jets) – I’ve been down on Lazard since the preseason, and besides some garbage time action in Week 1, he’s been ineffective when QB Aaron Rodgers is under center. He faces the Patriots this week and that’s a tough match-up for him.
- RB Jerome Ford (Cleveland Browns) – Not sure what happened in Cleveland, but they turned to RB D’Onta Foreman in Week 2. Ford did great in the limited touches he saw, so until their timeshare is more established, I’d stay away from in standard leagues.
- QB Anthony Richardson (Indianapolis Colts) – Richardson had a rough outing against the Packers. He faces the Bears this week, who also have some studs on defense. There are better, ‘less sexy’ quarterbacks that you can pick up to start until Richardson shows signs of improvement.
- WR DeAndre Hopkins (Tennessee Titans) – The Titans offense doesn’t look great right now and Hopkins is barely in their offensive plans.
- TE Isaiah Likely (Baltimore Ravens) – As TE Mark Andrews continues to get more healthy, the less targets Likely will see. He only had two catches for 26 yards on three targets last week against the Raiders. I expect a similar workload versus the Cowboys.
- Minnesota Vikings Defense & Special Teams – The Vikings host the Texans on Sunday. Minnesota’s secondary is long-in-the-tooth, and I love the Texans passing offense. It could be a long day for Minnesota’s defense.
- TE Cole Kmet (Chicago Bears) – Kmet continues to underwhelm, but did see five targets in last week’s game against the Texans. There are better tight ends out there to start over him. I’d take Browns TE David Njoku (if healthy) or Rams TE Colby Parkinson over Kmet this week.
- Dallas Cowboys Defense & Special Teams – This is an easy call. The Cowboys host the Ravens on Sunday, and I can’t start any fantasy defense against Ravens QB Lamar Jackson.
- WR Courtland Sutton (Denver Broncos) – The Broncos offense is in a rebuilding phase, and Sutton isn’t seeing many balls he can catch.
