There are a whopping six teams out on bye this week.
The Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Francisco 49ers are all out.
You could still be in the market to replace a lot of flex-level fantasy players. There aren’t many studs on the bye teams this week, but your lineup could still be crippled.
How will the Jets offense fare against the Buffalo Bills?
Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 9 of the 2022 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of QB Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals.
I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.
START’EM
- QB Andy Dalton (New Orleans Saints) – Other than that God awful performance against the Cardinals, Dalton has been a decent streaming candidate for 12+ team leagues. He faces the Ravens this week and it’s a good match-up for him.
- WR Terrance Marshall Jr. (Carolina Panthers) – This is more of a deeper team streaming option. Marshall’s stock has been on the rise since QB PJ Walker took over.
- TE Robert Tonyan (Green Bay Packers) – Tonyan was once the stereotypical TD-or-bust tight end, but he’s getting targets all over the field.
- RB Kenneth Walker III (Seattle Seahawks) – Walker has been a trendy pickup the last couple weeks. I doubt he’s still on the waiver wire in your league, but you better put in a claim this week.
- QB Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals) – The Cardinals offense is mostly Murray and a handful of carries to his running backs. Seattle’s defense isn’t great and I expect a shootout on Sunday.
- Minnesota Vikings Defense & Special Teams – The Vikings defense hasn’t been great, but they play the Commanders this week. Washington’s offense is pretty rough right now. They haven’t scored more than 21 points since Week 2.
- RB Kenyan Drake (Baltimore Ravens) – The Ravens backfield has rotating bodies and it looks like RB Gus Edwards (hamstring) could miss the game on Monday night.
- WR Josh Palmer (Los Angeles Chargers) – It’s unknown if WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) will return from injury and WR Mike Williams (high ankle sprain) will miss a few weeks. Palmer should get plenty of targets against the Falcons.
- RB D’Onta Foreman (Carolina Panthers) – Foreman was fantastic with RB Chuba Hubbard out. It’s not currently known if Hubbard will miss this week’s game against the Bengals, but Foreman should be a waiver wire claim regardless of injuries.
- TE Evan Engram (Jacksonville Jaguars) – Engram has been hot and cold all season. He is coming off one of his better games in London. Since so many teams are out, Engram is a no-brainer streaming option.
- WR Rondale Moore (Arizona Cardinals) – Moore had seven targets and 92 yards against the Vikings. He has missed time due to injuries and he should be the starting slot receiver when healthy.
- RB Khalil Herbert (Chicago Bears) – RB David Montgomery has the better name, but Herbert is doing more than his carries. Also, they have nearly split the backfield carries 50/50 this season.
- Green Bay Packers Defense & Special Teams – The Packers should get some turnovers against the Lions. I expect CB Jaire Alexander to make QB Jared Goff work extra hard on Sunday.
- QB Justin Fields (Chicago Bears) – Fields may not throw for many yards, but his running ability is the only reason you would pick him up to be a streaming option. He faces the Dolphins this week, who can be ran on this year.
SIT’EM
- RB Tyler Allgeier (Atlanta Falcons) – You may be in a position to add a low-level running back to stream. I’d avoid Allgeier and Caleb Huntley this week. There’s a chance RB Cordarrelle Patterson could return from IR this week. If Patterson is back, both of his backups are garbage in fantasy.
- QB Marcus Mariota (Atlanta Falcons) – Mariota just isn’t a good streaming option this season. He rarely cracks 200 yards in a game and he faces the Chargers secondary, who still have a couple healthy ballhawks.
- WR Devin Duvernay (Baltimore Ravens) – Duvernay just isn’t getting enough consistent targets to start. He’s becoming a touchdown-or-bust wide receiver. He was used in different ways last week, but I don’t see that being the norm.
- RB Gus Edwards (Baltimore Ravens) – As I said earlier, it looks like Edwards may miss this week’s game due to a hamstring injury. He plays on Monday night and I’d rather go with a less risky option who plays on Sunday.
- QB Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Tampa Bay’s offense still runs through Brady, but they aren’t scoring many points. He faces the Rams this week and I expect that he will take plenty of hits. I don’t see him as a top-ten fantasy quarterback this week.
- WR Garrett Wilson (New York Jets) – Wilson had his first 100+ yard game since Week 2. His targets took a huge hit when QB Zach Wilson returned from injury. I don’t trust that he will get consistent targets and he faces the Bills this week.
- TE Cade Otton (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Otton was a trendy fantasy sleeper of late, but he laid a stinker last week. As I said earlier, I don’t like the Bucs chances against the Rams. I don’t expect too many redzone opportunities.
- New York Jets Defense & Special Teams – I’ve liked the Jets defense a lot this season, but I will always put them in this section when they face the Bills.
- TE Noah Fant (Seattle Seahawks) – Fant isn’t getting enough targets and has only scored one touchdown this season. He has only had 5+ targets in just two games this season.
- Atlanta Falcons Defense & Special Teams – The Chargers have some injuries on offense, but I still think the Falcons will give up a lot of yards. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chargers score 28+ points on Sunday.
- WR Tre’Quan Smith (New Orleans Saints) – Smith might be on people’s radar to stream, but he only had one target against the Raiders. He saw his targets increase in the two previous games, but they fell fast.
