2021 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 10

Last week was another weird overall week in the NFL. The Bills nearly lost to the Jaguars and the Cowboys were dominated by the Broncos.

The Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants and the Houston Texans are all out on bye this week.

There aren’t a ton of top fantasy players out on bye this week. There are a few studs on Cincinnati and the other teams have some startable wide receivers.

Which Titans running back is worth a spot on your roster?

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 10 of the 2021 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of QB Derek Carr of the Las Vegas Raiders.

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Justin Herbert (Los Angeles Chargers) – Herbert bounced-back from a pair of below average outings to throw for 356 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles. I like his match-up this week against the Vikings and think he could replicate last week’s numbers.
  • WR Cole Beasley (Buffalo Bills) – The Bills had a rough outing offensively against the lowly Jaguars. It was clear that Beasley was a large part of their gameplan as he was thrown to eleven times. He had eight receptions for only 33 yards. He should get double-digit targets again this week against the Jets.
  • TE Pat Freiermuth (Pittsburgh Steelers) – It was only a matter of time before I listed Freiermuth in this section. I was waiting for Big Ben to show signs that his body is healing up. Freiermuth had 20 targets and three three touchdowns over his last three games. He has a great match-up against the Lions this week.
  • RB D’Ernest Johnson (Cleveland Browns) – As of this writing, Johnson is the only healthy running back on the roster. Running backs Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton both tested positive for COVID-19. Johnson could get another game with a heavy workload like he had a couple Thursdays ago.
  • QB Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams) – Stafford has another solid match-up this week. He faces the 49ers on Monday Night Football. The Niners secondary has given up some big plays on blown coverage numerous times this year. I expect Stafford will test Niners CB Josh Norman in this one.
  • Indianapolis Colts Defense & Special Teams – The Colts D/ST is underrated and has been fairly consistent over the last month. Indy laid off the gas in last week’s dominant win over the Jets and allowed New York to score some garbage-time points in the fourth quarter. They face the Jaguars this week and could have another double-digit output.
  • WR Rashod Bateman (Baltimore Ravens) – I was waiting for Bateman to get closer to double-digit targets in a game before I listed him here. He had eight targets and caught five of those for 52 yards last week against the Vikings. He has a great match-up against the Dolphins this week and I expect a similar target total this week.
  • RB Devonta Freeman (Baltimore Ravens) – It took some time, but I think Freeman is finally in ‘football shape’ and should be a consistent RB2 or flex play going forward. I like his matchup against the Dolphins.
  • TE Dan Arnold (Jacksonville Jaguars) – I’ve listed Arnold here just about every week since the Jaguars traded for him. He rookie QB Trevor Lawrence’s most consistent receiver right now. He has cracked 60+ yards in three of his last four games. The only thing that has hurt him is that he has yet to get in the end zone. It’s only a matter of time before that happens.
  • WR Hunter Renfrow (Las Vegas Raiders) – I’m not surprised that Renfrow found the end zone last week against the Giants. He is the most talented wide receiver on the roster. The Raiders signed WR DeSean Jackson this week, but I don’t see him eating into Renfrow’s target right away.
  • RB Michael Carter (New York Jets) – Carter is one of the best pass-catching running backs in his rookie class. He didn’t get many last week after QB Mike White was knocked out of the game, but it looks like White will start this week against Buffalo. Carter is a must-start in PPR leagues.
  • Atlanta Falcons Defense & Special Teams – This pick is contingent on the status of Cowboys LT Tyron Smith. It just seems when he’s injured, the Cowboys offense crumbles into pieces.
  • QB Derek Carr (Las Vegas Raiders) – Carr didn’t have a great outing against the Giants, but he will have WR DeSean Jackson on the squad for this week’s game. Renfrow and Waller will get more man coverage as defenses will have to respect Jackson. Carr should have a solid outing against the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

SIT’EM

  • RB Elijah Mitchell (San Francisco 49ers) – The Niners didn’t run the ball much in last week’s loss to the Cardinals. He has a stiffer match-up this week against the Rams. Also, it’s a possibility that RB Jeff Wilson get start to eat into Mitchell’s workload going forward.
  • QB Ryan Tannehill (Tennessee Titans) – Tannehill will have trouble with the fear of RB Derrick Henry in the backfield. He was accurate against the Rams last week, but he was throwing short passes and only accumulated 143 yards. The Saints will back away from the box this week and Tannehill will have trouble finding open receivers.
  • WR Jarvis Landry (Cleveland Browns) – Landry has dealt with injuries and being apart of a run-first offense. He only caught three passes for eleven yards against the Bengals. I would actually rather own his teammate WR Donovan Peoples-Jones over Landry at the moment.
  • RB Adrian Peterson (Tennessee Titans) – Peterson looked rough in his first start in Tennessee. Yes, he did get in the endzone on a short yardage play, but he only rushed for 21 yards on ten carries. Tennessee running backs Jeremy McNichols and D’Onta Foreman did more with less carries.
  • QB Mac Jones (New England Patriots) – Jones had a good start to the season, but teams are figuring out the rookie quarterback. Last week, he only passed for 139 yards against the Panthers. I don’t like his match-up this week against the Browns. Cleveland can get pressure and their secondary are ballhawks.
  • WR Tim Patrick (Denver Broncos)Patrick made a few big catches over Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs that made the highlight shows. Patrick is notorious for having a stinker of a game following a large rush to add him. He doesn’t have a difficult match-up this week (Eagles), but I’ve been bitten by him too many times to recommend adding him this week.
  • TE Marcedes Lewis (Green Bay Packers) – After Packers TE Robert Tonyan tore his ACL, many expected Lewis would see a big increase in play. He only caught one pass for -1 yards in last week’s loss against Kansas City. I’d rather pick up Jaguars TE Dan Arnold, Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth or Giants TE Evan Engram over Lewis.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars Defense & Special Teams – The Jaguars defense looked formidable against the Bills last week. I don’t expect the same level of play this week against the Colts. The Bills were caught overlooking the Jags.
  • TE Hunter Henry (New England Patriots) – Patriots rookie QB Mac Jones had success early this season when he was targeting his tight ends more. He has stranded away from that as Henry hasn’t caught more than two passes since Week 5.
  • Kansas City Chiefs Defense & Special Teams – The Chiefs defense just makes too many bonehead plays for me to suggest starting them against the Raiders. They will look great in back-to-back drives and then CB Daniel Sorensen blows pass coverage.
