2021 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 7

kyler murray dotted finalThere is a stacked list of teams on bye this week.

The Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Chargers and the Jacksonville Jaguars are all on bye this week.

You could have multiple spots that need filled this week since the bye teams are loaded with automatic-start talents. We give a few suggestions on streaming options.

Can Cardinals QB Kyler Murray racked up a monster fantasy week against the Texans on Sunday?

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 7 of the 2021 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of QB Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals.

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams)Stafford is having a resurgent year on his new team. He threw four touchdowns last week against the Giants. His old team travels to Los Angeles on Sunday and he may have revenge on his mind. I expect another big game from Stafford at home.
  • WR Michael Pittman Jr. (Indianapolis Colts) – Pittman only had two catches on three attempts last week against the Texans. The passing game wasn’t a huge priority in the second-half since the Texans couldn’t stop RB Jonathan Taylor. Colts wide receivers T.Y. Hilton (quad) and Parris Campbell (foot) both left last week’s games with injuries. There statuses are unknown right now, but I still expect a nice fantasy outing against the Niners from Pittman.
  • TE Mike Gesicki (Miami Dolphins) – It’s clear that Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa looks for Gesicki. Miami’s tight ends took a fantasy hit when backup QB Jacoby Brissett was in the game. Gesicki should get a handful of targets when they face Atlanta on Sunday.
  • RB Darrel Williams (Kansas City Chiefs) – Chiefs RB Darrel Williams stepped in for the injured Clyde Edwards-Helaire (who will be out a few more weeks). He scored two rushing touchdowns and caught three of four targets against Washington. WIlliams may not rack up 100+ yards, but he’s a redzone threat. He travels to Tennessee on Sunday.
  • QB Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals) – The Arizona Cardinals offense is arguably the best in the league. They are unbeaten and have a good defense. They play the Texans on Sunday and I expect a big fantasy output from Murray.
  • New England Patriots Defense & Special Teams – Your fantasy defense may be on bye this week and the Patriots are a solid streaming option. They are at home against the Jets, whose quarterback is an interception-throwing machine. They should have double-digit fantasy points this week.
  • WR Tim Patrick (Denver Broncos) – Denver travels to Cleveland on Thursday and I expect the Browns secondary to focus on WR Courtland Sutton. Patrick is a solid second-option with a lot of speed. He could be a nice PPR add if you have a spot open due to byes.
  • RB J.D. McKissic (Washington Football Team)Washington RB Antonio Gibson has a nagging shin injury and McKissic shined with a bigger role last week. He led the team in catches and rushing yards against the Chiefs. Gibson will be limited if he’s able to play, so McKissic could be a solid flex option on this short-handed week.
  • TE Ricky Seals-Jones (Washington Football Team) – Washington loves their tight ends. Starting TE Logan Thomas is on IR with a hamstring injury and Seals-Jones is the next man up. He caught four passes on six targets and found the end zone against the Chiefs. He could be a nice one-week streaming option if you have Bills TE Dawson Knox, Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz or Jaguars TE Dan Arnold (who are all out on bye).
  • WR Marquez Callaway (New Orleans Saints) – I’ve shied away from suggesting Saints wide receivers this year, but due to all the receivers out on bye this week, Callaway should be a nice streaming option against the Seahawks. I haven’t liked what I’ve seen from the Seahawks secondary this season. Callaway had two touchdowns receptions against Washington in his last game.
  • RB Chuba Hubbard (Carolina Panthers) – The Panthers gave up on waiting for Christian McCaffrey’s hamstring to heal up and put him in IR for at least the next three weeks. Hubbard has been a nice fantasy pickup as he is getting RB1 touches for Carolina. He has a great match-up this week against the struggling Giants.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defense & Special Teams – The Bucs defense have not been consistent in fantasy, but they’ve put up a couple double-digit outputs this season. They are facing Bears rookie QB Justin Fields and Tampa Bay will spy him to death and force him to throw. I expect a couple turnovers and some sacks from the Bucs on Sunday afternoon.
  • QB Mac Jones (New England Patriots) – Jones nearly got the win over the Cowboys last week. The Patriots forced overtime, but the Cowboys scored a touchdown early in overtime. Jones has a good match-up against the Jets. He didn’t put up huge numbers the last time they faced, but the Patriots had a stronger running game back in Week 2. Jones will need to throw more this week and should rack up some fantasy points.

SIT’EM

  • RB Devontae Booker (New York Giants) – Giants RB Saquon Barkley is dealing with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable against the Panthers. I expect the Giants will handle Barkley with kid gloves and won’t rush his return. Booker wasn’t great last week in their blowout loss to the Rams. The Giants play the Panthers this week and it’s not a great match-up for the Giants backfield.
  • QB Baker Mayfield (Cleveland Browns)Mayfield reaggravated an injury to his non-throwing shoulder in their 37-14 loss at home to the Cardinals. He has a short week of rest as they play the Broncos on Thursday Night Football. It’s not even a sure thing that he will play. He will also be short-handed as RB Kareem Hunt injured his calf and will miss multiple games. It could be a rough night on Thursday.
  • WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (Detroit Lions) – St. Brown is probably the most-talented healthy wide receiver on the Lions roster. He was matched in targets last week with WR Kalif Raymond. I fear St. Brown will be matched against Rams CB Jalen Ramsey this week. I’d probably keep St. Brown on your bench for this game.
  • RB Mark Ingram II (Houston Texans) – I have listed Ingram in his section multiple times this season. The Texans running game has been a bit rough and they have multiple running backs that could give the same output of yards per week. He has another bad match-up this week as he faces the Cardinals speedy front-seven.
  • QB Justin Fields (Chicago Bears) – Jones is playing a game manager role right now. Chicago’s preseason plan wasn’t for him to be playing in games this early in the season. He faces the Bucs this week and I expect them to try to force him to throw the ball. Tampa Bay has a stout run defense and it could be a long day for Fields.
  • WR Rashod Bateman (Baltimore Ravens)Bateman played in his first NFL game on Sunday. He is a hella talented wide receiver, but he may need a few weeks to fully get acclimated into the system. He caught four passes on six targets last week in their blowout win over the Chargers. Bateman will probably be an inconsistent fantasy wide receiver like his teammate Marquise Brown.
  • TE Robert Tonyan (Green Bay Packers) – Tonyan was one of the most touchdown-heavy fantasy players last year. He doesn’t get many targets in the Packers offense and nearly all his points came from his touchdowns. He isn’t getting in the end zone this season and he’s been a fantasy dud so far in 2021.
  • Kansas City Chiefs Defense & Special Teams – The Chiefs have had their issues on defense this year. It’s the reason they are only 3-3 this season. They face juggernaut RB Derrick Henry this week. I expect the Chiefs will try to stuff the box and the Titans could sneak a few passes deep to WR A.J. Brown.
  • TE Austin Hooper (Cleveland Browns) – I’m not sure why people have Hooper on their bench, even in deep leagues. I don’t see a scenario in which he becomes fantasy-relevant in the current Browns offense. He’s clearly TE2 on the team behind David Njoku, who is inconsistent in fantasy himself. I’d rather add Washington TE Ricky Seals-Jones or Chicago TE Cole Kmet.
  • Green Bay Packers Defense & Special Teams – I don’t like the Packers defense this week against Washington. They don’t have CB Jaire Alexander back and Washington’s offense is streaky. I think they will bounce-back from their below-average output against the Chiefs. I’d rather stream Carolina D/ST or New England D/ST this week over the Packers.
