2019 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 15

Baker Mayfield late 2019 dottedAfter the first week of the playoffs, are you in a good position or do you need a miracle to come back from a large deficit?

If you’re in a good position, I wouldn’t tweak your roster much this week unless one of your starters has a difficult match-up. If you’re losing headed into this week, it could be time for a hail mary. Could it be time for a complete roster overhaul or will a small roster tweak be the answer to your prayers.

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 15 of the 2019 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of QB Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Baker Mayfield (Cleveland Browns) – Baker’s is having a rough year. He has better receiving weapons, but the overall play-calling has been suspect. He faces the Cardinals this week and they’ve been awful against the pass this season. They have allowed many big games from average quarterbacks. Mayfield should have one of his better games of the year.
  • WR Darius Slayton (New York Giants) – I’ve listed Slayton here for over a month now and he keeps being clutch. The best Giants pass catchers are all injured and Slayton is making the most of this opportunity. He is coming off a 154-yard performance on Monday night against the Eagles and also caught two touchdowns. He should be money again this week.
  • RB Adrian Peterson (Washington Redskins) – It looks like Washington dodged a bullet with RB Derrius Guice’s knee injury. It doesn’t appear that it is career-altering, but the Redskins will sit the young running back this week. Peterson won’t have to split the carries and should have a solid game at home against the Eagles.
  • QB Ryan Tannehill (Tennessee Titans) – Tannehill now has a proven track record of being a Titans starting quarterback. He keeps winning and his fantasy output has been surprising. He is doing way more with every passing attempt than QB Marcus Mariota ever did as the starter. He faces the Texans this week, who allowed a rookie QB torch them a week ago.
  • Seattle Seahawks Defense & Special Teams – Seattle is coming off a rough stretch of opponents. They now face the Panthers, so their defense should finally be worth a start in fantasy.
  • RB Devin Singletary (Buffalo Bills) – Singletary may not have cracked 100 yards on the ground last week, but he did average more than five yards per carry against a very good Ravens run defense. Singletary has averaged at least five yards per carry in four of his last five games. He should fare well this week against the Steelers.
  • WR Anthony Miller (Chicago Bears) – Miller is one of the reasons why QB Mitchell Trubisky appears to be back on track. The Packers struggle against slot receivers and Trubisky will be looking for Miller all day. Miller should come through for you again on Sunday.
  • TE O.J. Howard (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – It took WR Mike Evans suffering a season-ending injury for QB Jameis Winston to look for Howard again. It comes at a good time as he faces the Lions who have allowed some big fantasy outputs to opposing tight ends. He should be a good fantasy tight end going forward.
  • TE David Njoku (Cleveland Browns) – Cleveland is Njoku back from IR and they worked him back slowly and I expect for him to be near a full workload against the porous Cardinals pass defense.
  • WR A.J. Brown (Tennessee Titans) – Brown is probably the best wide receiver left on the waiver wire. He is making Tannehill’s job much easier. He’s fast as hell and he has good hands. He’s a YAC God and the table is set for him to have a very good game against a bad Texans pass defense.
  • New England Patriots Defense & Special Teams – The Patriots defense haven’t been a huge fantasy stud this year, but this is the week to pick them up. They face the Bengals in an early game on Sunday and I don’t see Bengals QB Andy Dalton being able to move the ball much.
  • RB Chris Carson (Seattle Seahawks) – Seattle lost RB Rashaad Penny for the season (and possibly most of the next) after he suffered an ACL tear. Carson was splitting time with him and now he will gain a lot of that work. RB C.J. Prosise will also gain a little extra work, but Carson will be the only Seattle running back you want.
  • WR Zach Pascal (Indianapolis Colts) – Now that it looks like WR T.Y. Hilton could miss the rest of the season (even though he’s listed as week-to-week), Pascal has turned into the Colts #1 receiving option. He has been on the team for a couple years now and he has developed and improving into being a good receiver for the Colts. The Saints to have a good pass defense, but Pascal is one of few targets for the Colts, so he should get plenty.

SIT’EM

  • RB Ronald Jones (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Jones haven’t even been barely productive since Week 9. He’s been below average and has been touchdown-dependent in fantasy. It doesn’t help that he’s splitting carries with RB Peyton Barber in an offense that’s very pass-heavy.
  • WR Mohamed Sanu (New England Patriots) – Sanu has been very disappointing since he was traded to New England. He’s playing a lot, but he isn’t getting many targets and only caught one pass last week against the Chiefs. He’s just not a good fit in New England’s offense and he’s falling down the depth chart.
  • QB Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals) – Murray seems to have hit the rookie wall. He is struggling with interceptions and he has scored 13 fantasy points or less in back-to-back weeks. The Browns defense has some playmakers and Murray will not have an easy time against them on Sunday.
  • RB Royce Freeman (Denver Broncos) – Freeman is still owned in too many leagues. He is owned in 59% of leagues and he just doesn’t get enough carries to warrant a roster spot. He did seem an uptick in carries to a whopping EIGHT last week and only gained 24 yards with those carries.
  • QB Gardner Minshew (Jacksonville Jaguars) – Minshew couldn’t do anything against the Chargers defense. We are starting to realize why he was drafted so late in the draft. He has average athleticism and he can’t escape teams with a good pass rush. There are better quarterbacks out there worth an add.
  • Tevin Coleman (San Francisco 49ers) – It appears that Coleman has lost his carries to RB Raheem Mostert. Coleman has only carried the ball EIGHT times combined in the last two weeks. It’s time to drop Coleman and look to pick up Mostert or Miami RB Patrick Laird.
  • WR Robby Anderson (New York Jets) – Anderson has been good the last couple weeks, but he faces the Ravens on Thursday. The deep ball won’t be there for QB Sam Darnold and those are needed for Anderson to be worth anything in fantasy.
  • TE Kyle Rudolph (Minnesota Vikings) – Rudolph had a stretch of about four games in which he regained some of his early career fantasy magic. He fell back down to Earth against the Lions. He has another rough match-up this week against the Chargers.
  • Kansas City Chiefs Defense & Special Teams – Kansas faces Denver this week and I like what I’ve saw from rookie QB Drew Lock. He’s moving the ball well and I wouldn’t want to risk starting Chiefs in case he continues his hot streak.
  • QB Deshaun Watson (Houston Texans) – Watson may have a decent game against the Titans, but I think Tennessee’s defense is vastly underrated. The odds of him being a top-12 fantasy quarterback this week is low. Watson also faces them twice out of the next three weeks. He’s not going to be a good fantasy quarterback to have in the playoffs.
