2019 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 12

Le'Veon Bell dotted JetsThis is the final week of byes, so we will have a full schedule of sixteen games starting next week.

The Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Chargers are on bye this week. It’s a pretty quarterback-heavy group, so you might be looking for a quarterback to stream this week while your starting QB has the week off.

Some of the top fantasy quarterbacks have tough matchups this week. Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson faces the Rams, New England’s Tom Brady faces the Cowboys and Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers faces the 49ers.

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 12 of the 2019 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of RB Le’Veon Bell of the New York Jets..

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Baker Mayfield (Cleveland Browns) – I normally avoid Baker Mayfield, but he faces Miami this week. The Dolphins secondary won’t be able to handle Cleveland’s best receivers. I know Mayfield has been prone to throw interceptions this year, but I think he should have a solid game against the Dolphins.
  • WR Darius Slayton (New York Giants) – Slayton has caught four touchdowns in his last three games. He caught ten passes for 121 yards in his last game against the Jets. He will have a tougher matchup against the Bears this weekend, but I think QB Daniel Jones will be looking for Slayton a lot.
  • RB Le’Veon Bell (New York Jets) – Bell hasn’t exactly been lighting it up on the ground for the Jets, but he’s warming up. He faces the Raiders this week and they’ve been pretty bad against the run. Bell should get his first 100+ yard game against Oakland.
  • QB Jacoby Brissett (Indianapolis Colts)The Colts have a banged-up backfield and they will need Brissett to do a lot against Houston on Thursday. RB Jonathan Williams was great last week starting for the injured Marlon Mack. It looks like the Colts will have Williams and Nyheim Hines in the backfield this week. I don’t have much faith that Williams can duplicate the kind of game he had against the Jaguars last week. I think the Colts will lean on Brissett to push the Colts down the field on a short week.
  • Detroit Lions Defense & Special Teams – The Lions have a good secondary and they should own Washington rookie QB Dwayne Haskins on Sunday. The Redskins will need a strong effort from their backfield to take the pressure off Haskins. That didn’t happen last week and Haskins was pretty damn bad in a loss at home to the Jets.
  • RB Jaylen Samuels (Pittsburgh Steelers) – If you’re in a PPR league, Samuels should do well for you going forward. The Steelers clearly use Samuels has the pass-catching running back and James Conner does the dirty work on the ground. Samuels had eight catches against the Bengals the last time they faced each other. I think he will have plenty of targets this week as well.
  • WR Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers) – Samuel has had back-to-back games with eight catches for the Niners. I think he will have advantageous matchups against the Packers secondary. My guess is that WR Emmanuel Sanders will get the most attention and Samuel will kill it in the slot against Green Bay. Samuel’s fantasy stock will also increase if TE George Kittle sits for another game, but his status for this week’s game is still up in the air.
  • TE Noah Fant (Denver Broncos) – Fant as continued to be the second-best pass catching option for the Broncos. He continues to get plenty of targets and this week’s matchup against Buffalo should see more of the same. The Bills get a lot of pressure on quarterbacks and QB Brandon Allen will look to get the ball out of his hands fast on short routes.
  • QB Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons) – Ryan’s Falcons have looked great the last two weeks. His defense is giving the offense good starting field position and he’s been able to move the ball well. He faces the Bucs, whose pass defense has been suspect all season. I think he will have a big game on Sunday.
  • TE Jacob Hollister (Seattle Seahawks) – I wasn’t feeling Hollister early this season when he took over for the injured TE Will Dissly. I didn’t think he had good enough hands to contribute much for the Seahawks. His role has gradually increased and he is now a solid fantasy tight end. He isn’t owned in many leagues and should be a top-ten fantasy tight end going forward.
  • Atlanta Falcons Defense & Special Teams – The Falcons have held the Panthers and Saints to single-digit points in back-to-back weeks. Their game against the Saints was a huge eye-opener as they really made New Orleans into a one-dimensional team and they came up big on third downs. They face the Bucs, who have turned the ball over a ton this season.
  • RB Kareem Hunt (Cleveland Browns) – Hunt continued to make some noise in his second game back from suspension. He got a few carries, but he made the most from his receptions. The Browns utilized him and RB Nick Chubb on the field at the same time by lining up Hunt as a slot receiver quite a bit. He has now caught a total of 13 passes in his two games back and will still get some rushing yards on top of those PPR totals.
  • WR Terry McLaurin (Washington Redskins) – I know I mentioned that the Lions should own Washingon QB Dwayne Haskins this week, but I think McLaurin will still get plenty of targets. They were teammates at Ohio State and he has shown that he looks for McLaurin often. He’s the only receiver in Washington I’d even think about adding in fantasy.

SIT’EM

  • RB Frank Gore (Buffalo Bills) – I’ve listed Gore in this section a few times this season. The season is taking a toll on Gore. He started the season very good, but his production has ground to a halt. Rookie RB Devin Singletary is the only running back you want in Buffalo. Gore is doing less and less with the touches he is getting right now.
  • WR Alex Erickson (Cincinnati Bengals) – Erickson’s breakout season pretty much ended with the promotion of rookie QB Ryan Finley. He hasn’t been a factor in his last two games and Finley is barely looking his way. I’d stay away from him until we see more from the pair.
  • QB Jameis Winston (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – The Falcons defense is really humming right now. Winston has already thrown 18 interceptions this season and he will probably throw a couple more against the Falcons.
  • RB Leonard Fournette (Jacksonville Jaguars) – Fournette had a bad game against the Colts, but they do have an underrated run defense. He faces another underrated run defense this week. The Titans always seem to be solid in that area and this could be another stinker for Fournette.
  • RB Latavius Murray (New Orleans Saints) – Murray hasn’t had much success since Kamara came back from injury. I don’t think he’s getting enough work to really be relevant in fantasy. There are better options out there. I’d rather have Washington RB Derrius Guice than Murray.
  • WR N’Keal Harry (New England Patriots) – Harry finally caught his first passes of his career last week. He caught three passes for 18 yards. I’m not sure why anyone is still holding out hope for Harry to by a fantasy stud this year. He’s basically the fourth or fifth wide receiver. Harry has double-digit ownership, and in my opinion, it should be less than 1% due to the Patriots crowded wide receiver situation.
  • TE O.J. Howard (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – If you started Howard last week, you ended up with negative points due to a fumble. There are so many tight ends that are worth a shot in fantasy, like Seattle’s Jacoby Hollister who I mentioned earlier.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers Defense & Special Teams – The Steelers defense should have a good fantasy week. I think they have a great matchup against the Bengals. Rookie QB Ryan Finley will have trouble against Pittsburgh.
  • QB Jared Goff (Los Angeles Rams) Goff has been a disappointment in fantasy this season. He didn’t throw a single touchdown in his last two games and has only throw 11 all season. He has only thrown one more touchdowns than his interception total. He has killed every Rams wide receiver’s fantasy stock. The Ravens pass defense will really cause Goff to be frustrated all game on Monday Night Football.
  • WR Robby Anderson (New York Jets) – Anderson is still owned in a ton of leagues. He’s a deep threat and will only appear in the top-30 fantasy wide receivers in a week if he can get in the endzone. He only caught one pass for six yards last week, but luckily that was for a touchdown. Dump him and go pick up someone like Deebo Samuel or Darius Slayton
