It can be hard to think of things to do with your family at the weekend. You might come up with ideas that pleas some family members but not others. Your family spans generations, and you each have different interests. It’s understandable that you’ll struggle to think of fun things to do. The adults might want to go for a relaxing meal, and the kids might want to go to a theme park. If you’re looking for fun ways to spend the weekend with your family, then here are a few ideas.
Go fishing.
If you’re trying to think of a fun way to spend the weekend with your family, you might want to go fishing. That might not sound particularly exciting, but it can become an exhilarating and memorable activity once you get your loved ones involved. As long as it wouldn’t cause arguments, you could even start a competition to see who’ll catch the most fish. The important thing is that you’ll be fishing as a family. It’s all about sharing experiences with the people who matter most in your life.
Play some sports.
Maybe you could also play some sports if you want to spend the weekend with your family in a fun way. You could go out to your local park and play a game of Capture the Flag. All you need are two flags and enough people for two teams. You’ll have to decide on the rules (you don’t want people to start tackling each other to get the flags), but the basic idea is that each team tries to capture the other team’s flag and return it to their base. Of course, you don’t want to go to your local park to play some sports. You could play games at home. Perhaps you could even turn your driveway into a basketball court. You could get some basketball court stencils to make it look professional. Then, you’d just need a basketball hoop above your garage door and you’d be ready to play.
Do some baking.
Of course, you might not feel like going out this weekend. Maybe you don’t have the money to go on a big trip every weekend, or maybe you and your kids are often tired after a long week. But you don’t need to go out to have a fun time with your family. You could get in the kitchen and do some baking. Everybody loves food, right? Whether you have older kids who are excited at the prospect of eating some delicious grub (we all know teens have huge appetites) or younger kids who simply enjoy the process of baking, this activity will most likely appeal to the entire family. Still, don’t be fooled into thinking this will be a tame activity; it could end up being a very lively and energetic way to spend your weekend. Even if you don’t end up with baked goods of a professional standard, you’ll have had fun. Perhaps you could bake some bread, or maybe you could make some treats such as butterfly cakes (that’ll give the kids something to decorate in a creative way).
