I finished the year 133-111-12 against the spread during the NFL regular season.
Since there aren’t many games in the playoffs, I also pick over/under point totals as well.
These four games are pretty close, so we aren’t seeing any double-digit point spreads like we’ve seen the last few Wild Card Weekends.
Can the Eagles pull off the upset and make another improbable Super Bowl run?
We pick every NFL Wild Card Weekend game against the spread.
Since there are only four games this weekend, as a bonus I will also pick the over/under for each game.
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans (-1) – over/under (48) – My pick is Indianapolis Colts and OVER
This is the third time the Colts and Texans will face each other this year. The Texans won the first game in overtime and the Colts won the most recent contest. Each game was won by a field goal each. I believe the Colts have the edge since WR T.Y. Hilton have smoked the Texans this season. If QB Andrew Luck has Hilton as an option, the Colts offense is dangerous. The Texans will keep this game close and it should come down to the wire. Luck has fourth quarter magic and he will need to produce a lot to win this game…and I think he will do that on Saturday.
Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys (-2) – over/under (43) – My pick is Seattle Seahawks and OVER
The Seahawks beat the Cowboys early this season, but you can’t glean much from that game. Seattle and Dallas have evolved throughout the year and are much different teams. Seattle now has a pass rush and QB Russell Wilson is getting time in the pocket. The Cowboys have more of an aerial threat with WR Amari Cooper on the team. Seattle haven’t been a great road team in the past, but they have done well on the road against the spread. This will be another tight game and will come down to turnovers. As long as Wilson takes care of the ball, the Seahawks should keep up with the Cowboys, so I’ll take the points.
Los Angeles Chargers at Baltimore Ravens (-3) – over/under (42) – My pick is Los Angeles Chargers and UNDER
This might be one of the best games of the weekend. This game has DEFENSE written all over it. The Chargers and Ravens have ballhawks and can create turnovers. Baltimore might have the best pass defense in the NFL, and the Chargers are right there behind them. I’m going with the more experienced Chargers team, as I worry about Ravens rookie Lamar Jackson in such a huge game. He’s a talented quarterback, but his passing skills are still a work in progress. I’m taking the points and the under.
Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears (-6) – over/under (41) – My pick is Chicago Bears and UNDER
The Bears are inexperienced in this situation. They are the better overall team, but the Eagles are defending Super Bowl champions. The Bears should come out with the cover and hold the Eagles down with their pressuring defense. I am a little worried since QB Nick Foles tends to pull out magic when his back is against the wall. I just think the odds are just a little too steep in this contest, so I’m taking the Bears to cover.
