I’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I started purchasing some vintage toys out of nostalgia. Well, WWE and Mattel sucked me into their new stuff. I now buy a few figures a month. You can view photos of my collection on my Instagram account.
The lineup for WWE Elite series 64 is a pretty underwhelming set. Many in the lineup have been peg-warmers at retail in the past and the one ‘first time elite’ in the set is of a guy who has lost 200+ matches in a row.
The WWE Superstars included in Elite 64 Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Samoa Joe, John Cena and two Curt Hawkins elites (yes, there’s a chase version).
The Usos (Jey & Jimmy Uso) – I like that the Usos comes with different entrance gear, since they don’t usually come out in the same stuff anymore. I believe the gear is from their Hell In A Cell match against the New Day. The recent Uso elites sold ‘okay’, but much, much better than their first elites a few years ago. It feels a bit too soon for another elite, but I’ll probably pick them up.
Seth Rollins – I love this gear. Rollins has switched up his look a few times this year, so I’m glad to see Mattel use his flame gear as an elite. Also, the True FX headscan looks pretty darn good. Seth Rollins headscans have all been pretty good, but this one definitely stands out.
John Cena – He hasn’t been on TV a lot, but he was on long enough to change entrance gear colors. Cena elites usually sell pretty well, but this is the first elite that has been released since his long hiatuses began. The last time he has been on TV was the Australia show and I’m not sure when he’s expected again. I guess this will be a test to see if Cena elites will still sell whilst he’s off making movies.
Samoa Joe – This feels awful rushed as Joe just had an elite a few series ago. He doesn’t have a huge role on TV right now, but is usually on every pay-per-view. The headscan is on point, and a cloth shirt is a huge bonus, but I’m not sure if there is a demand for a new elite…so this one may collect dust at retail.
Curt Hawkins with CHASE – The Hawkins figure in the blue/orange attire is the one that will be in the regular series, and the black one is the chase. I’m not sure how well these will sell, but the chase factor does help. This is his first elite, but he has lost around 300-straight matches…and is rarely on RAW. I’m sure I’ll pick up one of these to have him in my collection, but I fear many will just keep their $20 and refrain from buying a Hawkins elite.
Elite 64 should be found at retail soon.
Elite 65’s lineup has leaked (Ronda Rousey), but I will write up a post once MOC pictures are released, which should be in the next couple weeks.
You can pre-order everything at RingsideCollectibles.com. I’m not getting paid to plug them (although it would be nice to get a nice discount – wink wink). I just recommend them. I’ve been pleased with every purchase. You can also check out WalkOutWear.com for pre-orders with free shipping.
