2018 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 11

There are six teams on bye this week. Buffalo, Cleveland, Miami, New England, New York (Jets) and San Francisco are all off.

You could be in need of replacements for a fantasy stud like QB Tom Brady. The rest of the teams on bye don’t have many must-start guys and are mostly guys that fill up your flex spots week-to-week.

Most leagues have their trade deadline this week or next. If you’re in a dynasty league, it’s time to pull the trigger on some trades if you’re clearly out of the playoff picture.

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 11 of the 2018 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky.

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Mitchell Trubisky (Chicago Bears) – The Bears sophomore quarterback has grown leaps and bounds since his rookie season. The new coaching staff has really taken the things he does well and built the offense around them. He is more accurate and he is a sneaky good athlete. He faces the Vikings, which have a good defense, but I think he’s up to the task now.
  • WR Tyler Lockett (Seattle Seahawks) – The Seahawks looked like a potential title contender last week. Their offense is humming and they face the Packers on Thursday. Green Bay is allowing too many yards to second and third wide receivers this season. Lockett should be a good fantasy wide receiver this week.
  • RB Dion Lewis (Tennessee Titans) – Lewis is playing 3/4 of the snaps for the Titans, but backup RB Derrick Henry is getting a lot of the red zone work. The Colts have struggled against pass-catching running backs and Lewis has torched them a couple times in recent years. He should have a good week.
  • QB Carson Wentz (Philadelphia Eagles) – It took a few weeks for Wentz to regain his timing at quarterback after coming back from a knee injury. He has been very good the last few games. He has limited turnovers and has only thrown two interceptions in his last six games. The Saints haven’t been good against opposing quarterbacks in fantasy. They have been racking up wins, but they have been bending on their pass defense.
  • RB Alex Collins (Baltimore Ravens) – Collins hasn’t been a must-start in fantasy this year, but the has a good match-up this week against the Bengals. Cincinnati is letting opposing running backs smoke them. Running backs are getting about five yards per carry against the Cincinnati front-seven in their last four games. Collins may not excite you, but he should be a solid flex option this week.
  • Arizona Cardinals Defense & Special Teams – This is another ‘Wait, Really?’ pick. The Raiders once-proud offensive line is pretty darn sad right now. The Cardinals pass rush should pressure Raiders QB Derek Carr into some mistakes. I don’t see the Raiders putting up very many points and the underrated Cardinals defensive line. Arizona DE Chandler Jones should have a good game.
  • RB Phillip Lindsay (Denver Broncos) – Lindsay is the running back you want in Denver. He has a good match-up as he faces the Los Angeles Chargers, who struggle against the run. Not only do they struggle against the run, but they have been allowing running backs to do damage in the passing game as well.
  • WR Sterling Shepard (New York Giants) – The Redskins couldn’t take advantage of Tampa Bay’s poor pass defense, but the Giants should do some damage. Shepard isn’t going to get as much attention as OBJ, so he should get favorable coverage. The Bucs can’t stop slot receivers to save their lives.
  • TE Jack Doyle (Indianapolis Colts) – Colts TE Eric Ebron got all the headlines, but Doyle played the most snaps last week. Ebron did develop some chemistry with QB Andrew Luck while Doyle was out with a hip injury, so he will still get some targets. I’ve seen many people dump Doyle for Ebron, which is a knee-jerk reaction. Doyle is the guy I’d want the rest of the season.
  • TE Evan Engram (New York Giants) – Did I mention that the Bucs pass defense is atrocious? This is the game Engram can redeem himself for being overrated this preseason. He should at least have a top-six fantasy performance among tight ends this week.
  • Houston Texans Defense & Special Teams – The Texans face the Redskins this week. Washington beat Tampa Bay last week, but couldn’t do much damage against their poor pass defense. If the Redskins can’t put up crooked numbers against them, the Texans should be a good fantasy defense.
  • WR Anthony Miller (Chicago Bears) – I’m bullish on the Bears passing offense the rest of the year. WR Allen Robinson is finally healthy and Miller is getting a lot of success in the slot. The Vikings should drape CB Xavier Rhodes on Robinson, which leaves Miller with nice match-ups. Miller should be a solid flex play this week.
  • RB Josh Adams (Philadelphia Eagles) – I’ve listed Adams on this list as a deep league play a few times and he has now graduated into an every league flex play. The Eagles running back corps have been banged up and Adams went from practice squad to their best running back option. He’s their most productive back and is doing the most with his touches. He was a stud at Notre Dame and has breakaway speed.
  • TE Vance McDonald (Pittsburgh Steelers) – The Colts tight ends carved up the Jaguars defense last week. The Steelers should have similar success with their tight ends. McDonald is a bit red zone target and it wouldn’t surprise me if they target their tight ends more if RB James Conner is limited with a concussion issue.

SIT’EM

  • WR Demaryius Thomas (Houston Texans) – The veteran receivers hasn’t had a big fantasy output since being traded from the Broncos. He faces the Redskins this week and that doesn’t bode well for him. Texans QB Deshaun Watson isn’t giving him the volume of targets he needs to be a top fantasy performer. I don’t see him being very productive against a good Redskins secondary.
  • RB Jordan Howard (Chicago Bears) – Howard has a tough match-up this week. He faces a stout Minnesota Vikings run defense. I don’t think a traditional running game is the Bears answer for the Vikings D. Howard will get some carries, but I expect RB Tarik Cohen will be more effective as a pass-catching threat. Howard is a flex play, at best.
  • QB Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) – I’ve listed Stafford here a lot lately. He’s had five-straight stinkers and he is lost without WR Golden Tate. The Panthers may eat him alive on Sunday. He just haven’t found his go-to replacement for Tate.
  • RB Marlon Mack (Indianapolis Colts) – The Colts offensive line is on fire right now, but they will face a tough foe this week. The Titans run defense is formidable and hasn’t even allowed a rushing touchdown on the road this season. Mack does a lot of damage in the passing game as well, but he may struggle against the Titans this week.
  • WR Calvin Ridley (Atlanta Falcons) – Ridley was a touchdown-scoring machine early this season, but his play has been inconsistent since. He was barely in their gameplan last week. The Cowboys are much weaker against slot receivers and that’s not what Ridley does for Atlanta. He may have another down week and should be avoided.
  • RB Mike Davis (Seattle Seahawks) – Rookie RB Rashaad Penny finally had a breakout game for the Seahawks. He is expected to get a lot more touches this week. He was explosive against a very good Rams defense. Davis will lose playing time if Penny keeps picking a hole and darting through it.
  • TE Jeff Heuerman (Denver Broncos) – If you picked up Heuerman to stream this week, you may want to pick a different week to do so. The Broncos face the Chargers and they haven’t allowed much success to opposing tight ends. In fact, they only average 47 yards per game against the Chargers this year. His success will only be feast or famine in hopes that he gets a touchdown.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars Defense & Special Teams – The Jaguars were expected to be an awesome fantasy defense this season. They have been getting torched. Also, their offensive woes have put the defense in poor field position too many times. The Steelers should do even more damage than the Colts did last week.
  • QB Andy Dalton (Cincinnati Bengals) – I don’t like Dalton when he doesn’t have TE Tyler Eifert or WR A.J. Green…and he doesn’t have either right now. He faces the Ravens and he doesn’t play well in Baltimore. I’d avoid Dalton like the plague this week.
  • WR Allen Robinson (Chicago Bears) – As I mentioned earlier, the Vikings will unleash CB Xavier Rhodes on Robinson this week. He’s been a lockdown corner against some of the best receivers in the game. I don’t see Robinson being very productive.
  • Philadelphia Eagles Defense & Special Teams – This should go without saying, but I don’t want any fantasy defense against the Saints. New Orleans have so many weapons that can move the ball and even the best defense in the league (Rams) couldn’t stop the Saints from marching. The Eagles need a shoot-out if they hope to win this weekend.
