2018 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 10

There are four teams on bye this week. The Broncos, Vikings, Ravens and the Texans are all off.

You could be in need of replacements for fantasy studs like QB Kirk Cousins, WR DeAndre Hopkins or WR Adam Thielen.

Now that many of your players have dealt with bye weeks, it’s time to look at your roster and trim the fat. There may not be a need to carry two tight ends anymore. You can build your roster towards the fantasy playoffs.

When is your league trade deadline? If it hasn’t passed, you could look to improve your team through late-season trades.

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 10 of the 2018 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons) – The Falcons passing attack is one of the best in the league. They have tons of weapons at QB Matt Ryan’s disposal. He faces the Browns, whose pass defense hasn’t been as good the last few weeks. Don’t be afraid to start him this week.
  • WR Christian Kirk (Arizona Cardinals) – The Cardinals have a tall task this weekend as they face the Kansas City Chiefs. I have no faith in them keeping this game close and will be playing from behind all game. They will need to pass and Kirk is #2 in targets on Arizona and he is a deep threat. He should get a couple deep throws against the Chiefs.
  • RB Mike Davis (Seattle Seahawks) – Davis is the clear #2 back in Seattle. He is getting more snaps than rookie RB Rashaad Penny. Starting running back Chris Carson is dealing with a hip injury and Davis has done well in his absence. The Seahawks face the Rams this weekend and yards could be harder to come by, but with four teams on bye, Davis should be a solid flex play.
  • QB Eli Manning (New York Giants) – Eli hasn’t been a good fantasy player this year. He has weapons, but RB Saquon Barkley is a bigger part of the offense than Eli. The Giants face the Niners on Monday Night Football. San Francisco has allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Manning will fare better than most weeks and should be a starter in most leagues.
  • RB Dion Lewis (Tennessee Titans) – It appears that RB Derrick Henry is officially the backup in Tennessee. He had a good game against the Cowboys last week. He scored two touchdowns and had 122 yards from scrimmage. He faces his former team and could be a thorn in New England’s side. Tennessee doesn’t have a very good offense, but they’ve done just enough to currently sit at .500. Lewis should be a big factor in the Titans offense on Sunday.
  • Washington Redskins Defense & Special Teams – The Bucs have a good passing offense, but the Redskins defense should be able to squash some drives. They will give Bucs QB Ryan Fitzpatrick some tricky looks. Washington’s defense should be a solid streaming defense this week.
  • RB Duke Johnson (Cleveland Browns) – Now that head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley are gone from Cleveland, Johnson had his best game this season. The new staff was getting Johnson the ball in a variety of ways. He’s a good player, but has been underutilized this season.
  • WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Green Bay Packers) – WVS has been a consistent part of Green Bay’s offense for over a month. He doesn’t get the quantity of targets, but he does a lot with his opportunities. He has either scored a touchdown or eclipsed 100 receiving yards in his last four games. The Packers face the Dolphins and MVS should have a nice match-up as their #3 wideout.
  • TE Jack Doyle (Indianapolis Colts) – The Colts are thin at wide receiver and no matter who the #1 tight end is in Indy, they produce. Doyle returned from a hip injury last week and stepped right into his place in the offense. Indy faces Jacksonville this week. QB Andrew Luck will be looking for Doyle as the Colts #2 & #3 wide receivers will have a difficult time against Jacksonville’s talented secondary.
  • TE C.J. Uzomah (Cincinnati Bengals) – Cincinnati will be tested this weekend, as they face the Saints who is coming off a win against the then-undefeated Rams. The only Achilles’ heel that the Saints have is that they struggle against slot receivers and tight ends. It’s more or less a fantasy issue and less of a ‘real football’ issue since they make up for those yards elsewhere. Uzomah is dealing with a shoulder injury, but should be healthy enough to start. He should see an uptick in targets this week.
  • New York Jets Defense & Special Teams – The Jets face the Bills and I will always pick the defense that faces the Bills right now. Their offense was embarrassing last week and even if QB Derek Anderson is healthy enough to play, they are only slightly better with him.
  • WR Adam Humphries (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – The Bucs have talented receivers and Humphries has earned an increase in targets per game. He even found the end zone twice last week at Carolina. The Bucs are going to be more of a passing team with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick under center, so there are more targets to be had. Humphries should be a solid flex play this week versus the Redskins.
  • RB Josh Adams (Philadelphia Eagles) [DEEP LEAGUES] – I was a huge fan of Adams coming out of college. He ran all over opponents at Notre Dame. His offensive line was unworldly good, so he didn’t get much hype going into the draft. He led the Eagles in targets and carries last week. This is a recommendation for deep leagues, but if given as many snaps this week against Dallas, he should be a good fantasy player in deep leagues.
  • WR Tyrell Williams (Los Angeles Chargers) – The Chargers face the Raiders in Oakland this week. Williams is a deep threat and has scored four touchdowns on nine receptions over the last three games. The Raiders struggle against the deep ball and Williams should connect on at least one big play.

SIT’EM

  • WR Robby Anderson (New York Jets) – Jets QB Sam Darnold is leading the NFL in interceptions and threw four more last week versus the Dolphins. New York will look to limit his mistakes by taking away some low-percentage passes (aka deep ball). Anderson is really only used for a deep threat and I don’t see him getting many against the Bills.
  • RB Kenjon Barner (New England Patriots) – Barner has appeared to lose his job to a wide receiver. RB/WR Cordarelle Patterson is making a name for himself as a running back. Barner is no longer relevant in fantasy and should be dropped in all leagues.
  • QB Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) – Stafford’s season started off horrible in his worst game of his career in Week 1 versus the Jets. Things have improved, but he isn’t the dependable fantasy quarterback this year. The Lions also traded away his best possession receiver (Golden Tate). He struggled to find a dependable receiver on third down. The Bears defense should fare well against Stafford.
  • RB Royce Freeman (Denver Broncos) – It appears that Freeman has fallen to #3 running back on the depth chart. RB Devontae Booker will now eclipsed Freeman in snaps. It doesn’t help that his ankle injury will take some time to fully heal.
  • WR Keelan Cole (Jacksonville Jaguars) – Cole was expected to be a consistent fantasy wide receiver this preseason. No one imagined how much QB Blake Bortles would regress this season. Cole doesn’t get enough targets to start in standard leagues. I’d rather have someone with more upside.
  • RB Derrick Henry (Tennessee Titans) – Henry is a change-of-pace back for the Titans with RB Dion Lewis taking over the every-down role. Henry’s value only comes from touchdowns. He is getting red zone carries, so there is some upside to him. I don’t see him having a very productive game against the Patriots.
  • TE Ricky Seals-Jones (Arizona Cardinals) – Seals-Jones was a nice sleeper pick this preseason. He hasn’t had a breakout game and fantasy owners are getting tired of him. He saw another big drop in ownership and doesn’t have a good match-up against the Chiefs this weekend.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars Defense & Special Teams – The Jaguars were expected to be an awesome fantasy defense this season. They have been getting torched. Also, their offensive woes have put the defense in poor field position too many times. The Colts should be able to move the ball against them. There are better defenses out there with more upside this week.
  • QB Nick Mullens (San Francisco 49ers) – Mullens came out of nowhere and played out his mind last Thursday in their 34-3 win over the Raiders. He has another national game as he will start against the Giants on Monday Night Football. If you’re expecting the same level of performance, you’re going to be disappointed. He has an impossible bar to reach and I wouldn’t start him this week.
  • Any Buffalo Bills receiver– It doesn’t matter who starts at quarterback for the Bills, I want nothing to do with their wide receivers. WR Kelvin Benjamin was getting some traction a few weeks ago, but he fell flat again. I’d rather take a flier on high-upside guys like Marquez Valdes-Scantling or Adam Humphries.
  • RB Chris Thompson (Washington Redskins) – Thompson isn’t seeing much action. He’s banged up right now, but even when he was healthy, RB Adrian Peterson would get all the snaps. He barely even making a dent in the passing game.
