2018 Festivals to Check Out

Summer is almost upon us, and if you’re like most people you’ll be craving barbeques on the beach, road trips with friends and perhaps a decent summer concert. This article offers some inspiration on where to check out this summer if you’re looking for popular music and a great atmosphere.

  1. ELECTRIC FOREST

Headline Bands: Bassnectar, Marshmello, Griz Live Band, The String Cheese Incident,

When & Where: 21-24 June; 28 June – 1 July, Rothbury, Michigan

This festival fuses bands with electronic DJs in a wonderful forest takeover that is a great alternative to the majority of festivals that take place in fields.  This way, festival participants are surrounded by the beautiful nature making for a much more natural and immersive experience than we are used to.

  1. BONNAROO

Headline Bands: The Killers, Eminem, Muse

When & Where: 7–10 June 2018, Great Stage Park, Tennessee

This hippy chic festival originally focused on folk rock yet it has expanded to encompass a variety of genres.  Indeed, the festival in its initial years was cited by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the “50 Moments That Changed Rock & Roll.

  1. NEW ORLEANS JAZZ & HERITAGE FESTIVAL

Headline Bands: Aretha Franklin, Aerosmith, Sting, Jimmy Buffet

When & Where: 27 April – 6 May 2018, New Orleans, USA

With an incredible line up of some of the world’s most recognized artists the already thriving musical scene of New Orleans has a further injection of excitement right now.  Indeed, if you love Jazz and happen to be close to New Orleans you’ll want to head down to this cultural experience that goes way beyond music.  

This is a lively party atmosphere, but not one you would usually associate with festivals – it’s more of a friendly and all inclusive vibe that is open to all, including families… all taking place in one of the world’s most vibrant cities.

  1. AUSTIN CITY LIMITS MUSIC FESTIVAL

Headline Bands: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay Z, The Killers, Chance The Rapper

When & Where: 5-7; 12-14 October 2018, Zilker Park, Austin

Whilst this festival is not technically in summer, the weather in Austin at this time of year is still pretty warm and it can be nice to go somewhere out of tourist season.  This festival has eight stages and celebrates music, art, great food and drink. It also has a dedicated family area which makes it inclusive for all. Originally, this was a one-weekend even but it has become so successful it’s not over two weekends.

  1. ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL

Headline Bands: David Guetta, Tiesto, DJ Snake

When & Where: March 2019, Miami, Florida
