We are here to help you fill out your brackets and finally beat your cubicle neighbor in your office pool this year.
We start out our picks with a game pairing a Big 12 team against an explosive Big East squad.
Kansas State is undersized, but efficient. They are also battle-tested by running through an underrated Big 12 conference.
Creighton faced their share of monsters in the Big East, but did have some easy wins down the stretch.
Who do you think will win?
Do you have #8 Kansas State Wildcats or #9 Creighton Bluejays?
The Kansas State Wildcats finished fourth Big 12 regular season. They were also 3-9 in Quadrant 1 games. They didn’t finish the season strong with losses to TCU, Oklahoma and Kansas in their final five games. They are an undersized Big 12 team, but they were efficient. All of their players can shoot from distance. Dean Wade doesn’t have the size as other guys that plays his position, but he has a big motor. He just makes big plays and hustles.
The Creighton Bluejays finished third in the Big East regular season. They finished the season 2-9 in Quadrant 1 games. They were top-ten in the nation in points per game and assists per game. They like to run, and run, and run…so a team will need to really clamp down on defense to stop the Bluejays. Their three-point shooters Marcus Foster and Khyri Thomas haven’t met a shot they wouldn’t pass up.
Neither of these teams have an advantage when it comes to size. Kansas State had to stop a lot of good Big 12 teams this season. They aren’t a running team and will need to play their style of game to stop Creighton. KSU’s Dean Wade will need a big game to lead the Wildcats to victory over the Bluejays. Kansas State aren’t the strongest rebounding team, but they do have some guys who and prevent Creighton second-chance points. I’m going to take Kansas State in a close game.
Prediction: #8 Kansas State Wildcats
