3 NFL Combine Prospects to Set Your Fantasy Team on Fire

The NFL scouting combine is a great opportunity for coaches and general managers to gauge the talent available to them in the upcoming draft. It’s also a chance for fantasy fans to get a glimpse at who could help their team during the 2018-19 season. Here are some of the players who stood out at the combine.

Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

Heading into the combine, Barkley was already predicted to be one of the top five picks in the draft. He fared even better at the combine, showing some why he should be in the conversation when it comes to the first overall pick. From his 41-inch vertical jump to his 29-rep bench press and 4.4 second 40-yard dash, the Penn State star proved what an incredible athlete he is. The RB has already been compared to two of the best players in NFL history, Barry Sanders and LaDanian Tomlinson. Barkley has generationalist talent and should be a first or second round fantasy selection come this fall.

D.J. Chark, WR, LSU

LSU has a rich tradition when it comes to receivers, and Chark has shown at the combine that he has the kind of potential to explode, with numbers including a 4.34 40-yard dash time. Whether his skills will translate or not into the NFL remains to be seen, but he should have an expanded role early in the season, which is an advantage for fantasy footballers. Whoever the kid goes to would likely have an immediate impact on the offense and should improve his team right away. Dynamic players such as Chark can even shorten a team’s Super Bowl odds. While the free Super Bowl bets on Oddschecker will remain the same, it could well be that the odds could change, simply because a kid like Chark gets picked by the right team.

Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State

Another Penn State prospect, Mike Gesicki, has the potential to have a standout rookie year, a rare feat for a TE; Even Engram and Rob Gronkowski notwithstanding. The volleyball and basketball standout earned stellar grades in every drill. A mismatch nightmare and athletic freak, the New Jersey native could take the league by storm. He may end up with a team in dire need of a TE, such as the Steelers or Ravens (he’s already met with both teams).

Keep your eye on the above prospects and you may just find that you have the next big fantasy star on your team.
