Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 58

I’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I started purchasing some vintage toys out of nostalgia. Well, WWE and Mattel sucked me into their new stuff. I now buy a few figures a month. You can view photos of my collection on my Instagram account.

The lineup for WWE Elite series 58 has been known for awhile, but they have yet to be released. We’ve already seen up-close pictures as they were on display at a few toy shows this Winter.

The WWE Superstars included in Elite 58 are Matt Hardy, Mickie James, Braun Strowman, Dean Ambrose and The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro).

Matt Hardy – This is the second current Matt Hardy figure as he was included in the Hardy Boyz Epic Moments 2-Pack. All the Hardy Boyz stuff is hot right now, so this will be hard to find as it matches the Jeff Hardy in Elite 57.

Mickie James – This is Mickie’s first elite and first figure since she returned to WWE. She had an early Basic released years ago, but this is an updated attire. The old school WWE Women’s Championship belt is a nice touch. The belt hasn’t came with a figure for a couple years. New collectors will have a chance to own one.

The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) – They’ve been a tag team for over a year at this point, but these are their first elites since joining up. It kind of sucks they get these plastic entrance suits, but that’s what you’re going to get with Mattel. There are customizers out there that make custom clothing for figures. You should find one that can make better gear for these figures.

Braun Strowman – He’s one of the biggest stars the WWE has right now and Mattel is chugging out new elites at a rapid pace. I like the new headscan and the Ambulance door accessory is all right, I guess. This attire was back when he feuded with Roman Reigns and flipped an Ambulance on its side.

Dean Ambrose – The Lunatic Fringe is out with an arm injury and will miss Wrestlemania…but Mattel still has some new figures in production. I believe this is the second Ambrose figure to come with a cloth shirt. The new headscan isn’t bad either. His best headscan was back when he first parted from The Shield…Mattel can never top that one.

Elite 58 should be found at retail in late-April.

Elite 59’s lineup is already up for pre-order on some online retailers that get figures early. I will have a post about them in the coming weeks. I’ve already pre-ordered the entire set (there’s a U-S-A theme).

You can pre-order everything at RingsideCollectibles.com. I’m not getting paid to plug them (although it would be nice to get a nice discount – wink wink). I just recommend them. I’ve been pleased with every purchase. You can also check out WalkOutWear.com for pre-orders with free shipping.

I should also add TheyreActionFigures.com to my recommendation list. Awesome prices for WWE, Marvel and other toy lines. I’ve bought from them numerous times. A trusted seller and treats buyers well with great prices and fast shipping.
