Super Bowl 52 – Betting Picks Against Spread & Prop Bets

I LOVE prop bets. I actually get more joy out of betting Super Bowl prop bets than betting against the spread. Yes, most are a crap shoot, but with the right research, you can end up winning bets with very favorable odds.

I’m not saying you can research who will win the coin toss, but there are many other player and team prop bets out there that have nice odds.

Some prop bets aren’t worth the money (the vig isn’t worth the slight risk), but sometimes you just have to lay a few bucks down, cross your fingers and wish for the best.

I picked out some of the most popular (and the most absurd) prop bets for Super Bowl 52 (or Super Bowl LII for Roman numeral fans)…and we also pick the game against the spread.

Let me know if you’re betting any of these props. Good luck!

How Long Will Pink’s National Anthem Last?

Over 120 Seconds (-150)
Under 120 Seconds (+110)

I usually always go with the under, but the over/under was decreased by seven seconds from last year’s Luke Bryan’s total. The under hit, but I think Pink will draw it out a bit. It’s been a long time since I did the Over here, but it’s happening.

Prediction: OVER

What color will Pink’s hair be when she starts to sing the National Anthem?

White/Blonde – 5/4
Pink/Red – 7/4
Blue/Purple – 5/1
Brown/Black – 5/1
Green – 5/1

It looks like she’s been sticking to the platinum blonde hair color for awhile. I don’t see her going too wild and doing something odd. I think she’ll to the white/blonde during the national anthem.

Prediction: White/Blonde

What Color Gatorade Will be Dumped on the Winning Head Coach?

Lime/Green/Yellow +180
Orange +200
Red +250
Clear/Water +330
Blue +580
Purple +800

I’m going with an oddball choice here and I’m taking clear/water. Not to show my hand before my game pick at the end, but Bill Belichick has had enough sticky Gatorade poured on him. He’d rather have water at this point.

Prediction: CLEAR/WATER

Coin Toss?

Heads (-102)
Tails (-102)

I’m usually a Heads guy, but I’m taking Tails this year.

Prediction: TAILS

Will Donald Trump be mentioned during broadcast?

Yes (+110)
No (-150)

I’m sure there is a directive to not mention him since he’s the polarizing person in the country, but I think it’s almost impossible to not mention Trump. His name will slip at some point.

Prediction: Yes

Which team owner will be shown first during broadcast?

Robert Kraft (Patriots owner) (-140)
Jeffrey Lurie (Eagles owner) (EVEN)

This is almost near-gimmie here. Kraft will most likely be shown and maybe even during the national anthem. I don’t think most football fans could pick Lurie out of a lineup.

Prediction: Robert Kraft

Will Donovan McNabb’s vomiting incident from Super Bowl 39 be mentioned during the broadcast?

Yes (+150)
No (-200)

This would be a must if I were announcing the game, but that’s one of many reasons why I’m not announcing this game. I highly doubt they will mention this.

Prediction: No

How many times will “Wardrobe Malfunction” be mentioned during broadcast?

Over 1.5 (+170)
Under 1.5 (-250)

There’s probably a memo telling the announcer’s to never mention this. If there were some crazier guys in the booth or if this game gets really lopsided, it could happen…but I’m being cautious here.

Prediction: NO

Who Will the Super Bowl MVP Thank First?

Teammates (2/1)
God (4/1)
City (5/1)
Coach (7/1)
Owner (10/1)
Family (16/1)
Does not mention any of the above (2/1)

This one is a tough one. I think if you think the Pats will win, ‘teammates’ should win. If the Eagles win, I think ‘City’ might win since they haven’t ever won a Super Bowl. I think I’ll go with teammates.

Prediction: Teammates

Super Bowl LII MVP Odds

Tom Brady (-120)
Nick Foles (+350)
Rob Gronkowski (+850)
Jay Ajayi (+1800)
Danny Amendola (+1800)
Zach Ertz (+1800)
Dion Lewis (+1800)
Alshon Jeffrey (+2000)
Brandin Cooks (+2200)
LeGarrette Blount (+4000)
Fletcher Cox (+4000)
James White (+4000)
Nelson Agholor (+5000)
Rex Burkhead (+5000)
Jake Elliott (+5000)
Stephen Gostkowski (+5000)
Chris Hogan (+5000)
Torrey Smith (+7500)
Malcolm Butler (+10000)
Patrick Chung (+10000)
Corey Clement (+10000)
James Harrison (+10000)
Devin McCourty (+10000)
Nigel Bradham (+20000)
Trey Burton (+20000)
Ronald Darby (+20000)
Phillip Dorsett (+20000)
Trey Flowers (+20000)
Ricky Jean Francois (+20000)
Brandon Graham (+20000)
Corey Graham (+20000)
Lawrence Guy (+20000)
Malcolm Jenkins (+20000)
Mychal Kendricks (+20000)
Rodney McLeod (+20000)
Jalen Mills (+20000)
Patrick Robinson (+20000)
Kyle Van Noy (+20000)
Field (+2000)

I think this game will be high-scoring, so I have to go with either of the quarterbacks. A long-shot that could hit could be a defensive back or linebacker, in case they intercept a couple passes. Brady is almost a no-brainer if the Pats win, but if the Eagles win, I’d take a few darkhorses like LeGarrette Blount, Corey Clement or Malcolm Jenkins.

Prediction: Tom Brady

Super Bowl LII First Touchdown Scorer

Rob Gronkowski (NE) (+750)
Brandin Cooks (NE) (+900)
Danny Amendola (NE) (+1000)
Zach Ertz (PHI) (+1000)
Dion Lewis (NE) (+1000)
Jay Ajayi (PHI) (+1200)
Alshon Jeffrey (PHI) (+1200)
LeGarrette Blount (PHI) (+1400)
Rex Burkhead (NE) (+1400)
Chris Hogan (NE) (+1400)
James White (NE) (+1400)
Nelson Agholor (PHI) (+1600)
Corey Clement (PHI) (+1800)
Torrey Smith (PHI) (+1800)
Tom Brady (NE) (+2500)
Nick Foles (PHI) (+3300)
Any Other Touchdown Scorer (+400)
No Touchdown Scorer (+7500)

I’m going to go with running backs here. I may put a few jellybeans on Dion Lewis to cover the Pats and Corey Clement for the Eagles. I’m taking two here since I always pick a few longshots.

Prediction: Dion Lewis or Corey Clement

What Outcome Will Be Greater (Points vs Winter Olympics)

Total Points By Winning Team in Super Bowl 52
Total Number of Medals Won by the 2018 USA Winter Olympic Team

Just some information to keep in mind, the United States had 28 medals in 2014. Many Russians have been banned for these games, so it’s not impossible for the U.S. to win 32+ medals.  This one could be close. I’m going to take the medal count.

Prediction: U.S. Winter Olympic Medals Count

Total Points – Over/Under

– OVER 48 (-110)
– UNDER 48 (-110)

This should be a high-scoring game, so I have to go with my gut and take the OVER. I think there will be some point scored in garbage time by the Eagles.

Prediction: OVER

Point Spread

– New England Patriots (-4.5)
– Philadelphia Eagles (+4.5)

It kills me to pick the Patriots, but they’ve been near-automatic all season. Bill Belichick will gameplan to force Eagles QB Nick Foles to beat them. He will make it difficult for him and bring the pressure. The Eagles may have blown their load beating the Vikings in Philly. Can a team turn it up like that again? The Eagles will score points and it won’t be embarrassing, but I have to take the Patriots. They are just the better overall team. It’s a shame QB Carson Wentz went down with a knee injury. This game could have been an all-timer.

Prediction: New England Patriots (-4.5)
