Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 52

I’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I started purchasing some vintage toys out of nostalgia. Well, WWE and Mattel sucked me into their new stuff. I now buy a few figures a month. You can view photos of my collection on my Instagram account.

The lineup in Elite 52 is pretty good. It updates some current guys and two long-awaited flashbacks from the Attitude Era.

The WWE Superstars included in Elite 52 are Braun Strowman, Ken Shamrock, D’Lo Brown, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Seth Rollins.

We give our thoughts on each figure and include some pictures.

Braun Strowman – This figure feels almost like it was made last month with the addition of the stretcher, smart move Mattel. I love the headscan and this should sell even better than his first elite, now that he is a legit main eventer.

Seth Rollins – This figure confuses me a little bit. The attire is from last year’s Summerslam when he faced Finn Balor, but the WWE World title was not defended in that match. It was the match that would crown the first WWE Universal champion…and also the match that basically ripped Balor’s arms to shreds.

Xavier Woods – The upcoming New Day elite figures make me sad. I hoped the cotton candy-like iconic attire would get the elite treatment. I still like the gear, but it’s not my favorite.

Kofi Kingston – I need to look at a list of the wrestlers with the most elites. John Cena would be on top of that list, but Kofi would probably be in the top-five. I dig the vest on this slite.

Ken Shamrock – It’s about time the former UFC champion gets a WWE elite. He was such a big part of the Attitude Era. He was a legit ass kicker and made the WWE seem a little more real. I assume he will be inducted in the Hall of Fame in the near future.

D’Lo Brown – Here’s another wrestler that we have been waiting to be made. He was affiliated with TNA for awhile, so that probably held up the process for awhile. I love that he comes with the European Championship belt. He’s the most iconic

Elite 52 should be found at retail in October.

Elite 53’s lineup has already been announced and proto pics have been released. Once MOC images are released, I’ll write something up for the site.

You can pre-order everything at RingsideCollectibles.com. I’m not getting paid to plug them (although it would be nice to get a nice discount – wink wink). I just highly recommend them. I’ve been pleased with every purchase.

I should also add TheyreActionFigures.com to my recommendation list. Awesome prices for WWE, Marvel and other toy lines. I’ve bought from them numerous times. A trusted seller and is a toy seller that treats buyer well with great prices and fast shipping.
