Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo always seems to get his teams to play their best basketball in March. He has a good squad, but they were beat up by the time the conference tournament started.

Miami is one of the many ACC teams that could go far in the NCAA Tournament.

The Miami Hurricanes are a young team, but they have relied on upperclassmen like Ja’Quan Newton and Davon Reed to get them through tough games. They survived the ACC schedule and have played some of the best teams over the last two months. They weren’t playing their best basketball just before the conference tournament and fell to North Carolina in their second tournament game.

The Michigan State Spartans had the hardest non-conference schedule in college basketball. Tom Izzo did not do his team any favors by putting the best of the best teams on the schedule early. They then limped into the Big Ten tournament and lost to Minnesota in their second game.

I have to take Miami in this game. Michigan State were giving too much credit for their losses to top-ten teams by the selection committee. The Hurricanes are a better overall team.

Prediction: #8 Miami Hurricanes
