We are here to help you fill out your brackets and finally beat ‘Rhonda the intern’ in your office pool this year.
The Big Ten was solid all year long. Maryland was ranked along with Michigan State, Indiana, Iowa, Purdue and others all season. The talent level in the conference rivals any of the other power conferences.
The Summit League isn’t a well-known conference, but teams in the conference have made for some interesting NCAA Tournament matchups in year’s past.
Could the Jackrabbits upset the Terrapins?
Who do you think will win? We help you fill out your bracket.
The Maryland Terrapins have come a long way in just two seasons. They were barely a .500 team and lost players to transfer when they entered the Big Ten. They are now a #5 seed with one of the best (but irritating) sophomores Melo Trimble. He’s irritating just because I expected so much more in his second year at Maryland. He has plateaued, but the rest of the roster has helped to pick up the slack.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits come into the NCAA Tournament with experienced point guards and a talented young big man Mike Daum. They have all the trademarks of a small conference school that have upset power conference schools in the Big Dance.
Maryland has as much talent on their team as any of the #1 seeds in this tournament. They had a great non-conference run and had some marquee wins during the Big Ten season. They haven’t played as well of late and I worry they are prone to the upset. I’m going to pick Maryland to win, but wouldn’t be surprised if South Dakota State gives them a good game.
Prediction: #5 Maryland Terrapins
