2013 March Madness: #7 San Diego State vs #10 Oklahoma

Jamaal Franklin San Diego State#7 San Diego State (22-10) vs. #10 Oklahoma (20-11) is one of the most unpredictable games in the entire tournament. Both teams stumbled into the postseason and have been very inconsistent.

San Diego State were on fire at the beginning of the season. If there’s a thing as a good loss, their only non-conference losses were against Syracuse and Arizona.

Can Oklahoma show they deserve to be in the field?

The San Diego State Aztecs are getting used to being in the NCAA Tournament. This year’s squad is full of upperclassmen who want to achieve more than just making the tournament field. Jamaal Franklin and Chase Tapley hope to add to their regular season success.

Franklin is the best player, by far, on the Aztecs. He’s the only player in the country to lead their team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

The Oklahoma Sooners backed into the tournament. The have not played well over the last two months. The Big 12 really chewed them up. They lost close games against the league’s best teams and had a bad loss to TCU in their last regular season game.

If the Sooners hope to advance they’ll need a perfect game from Romero Osby and for Steven Pledger to be on fire from deep. Unfortunately, I don’t see those things happening. The Aztecs are too talented to lose and the Sooners aren’t playing good basketball right now.

Prediction: #7 San Diego State Aztecs
