2013 March Madness: #2 Duke vs #15 Albany

Presbyterian v DukeCould #2 Duke (27-5) vs. #15 Albany (24-10) hold the biggest upset in this year’s tournament?

It’s rare that a #15 seed knocks off a #2 seed…but Duke knows all too well that it can happen.

Last year, #15 seed Leigh defeated #2 Duke in the first round. Coach K is certain to show that tape over and over this week.

Can Albany do the impossible and hand Duke its second first-round lost in a row?

Who do you think will win? We help you fill out your bracket.

The Duke Blue Devils looked like they would roll through this season and be the eventually win the 2013 NCAA Tournament. That vision became foggy when forward Ryan Kelly went down with in injury in mid-January. They lost four games with Kelly out. When he returned at the beginning of March, they went on a roll again…but then lost their first game since he’s been back in the ACC tournament.

What can we take from Duke’s performance since the new year?

I think we learned how much Kelly means to Duke. The senior is the leader on this team and his presence on the floor is immeasurable.

Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry are having career years and I see Duke going far in the tournament.

The Albany Great Danes are the tournament champions out of the America East Conference. There’s not much I can say about them, other than they don’t have a shot against Duke. Albany is  small conference team that can barely match up with a power conference team. They did squeak out a win at Washington, and that was a huge upset.

I see Duke going to the Final Four. They have more tournament experience than any other team and they learned from last year’s loss to Lehigh. Don’t ready too much into their ACC Tournament loss. They are a dangerous team that could win it all.

Prediction: #2 Duke Blue Devils
