2013 March Madness: North Carolina A&T vs. Liberty

Liberty+Flames+NCAA+TournamentThe #16 play-in game has North Carolina A&T (19-16) facing Liberty (15-20).

The winner of this game faces #1 Louisville Cardinals.

I doubt the winner of this game will defeat the Cardinals in the state of Kentucky, but you will need to pick the winner in your bracket. We will break down this game and pick the winner.

Who do you think will win? We help you out.

The North Carolina A&T Aggies like to play at a slow, methodical pace. They are not strong offensively and rely heavily on defense. They are 290th in points per game and 317th in field goal percentage.

A&T did not win the MEAC regular season championship. They were 8-8 in MEAC conference play. Norfolk State was a perfect 16-0 in conference play, but were upset early in the MEAC conference tournament by Bethune-Cookman.

The Liberty Flames scheduled a tough non-conference gams, but were destroyed by teams like Georgetown and Southern Miss.

Liberty guards John Caleb Sanders, Davon Marshall and Tavares Speaks are basically the only scorers on the team. They push the ball down the court.

As much as it bothers me to pick a team under .500 to advance past the play-in game, I’m picking Liberty. I like their scoring ability more than A&T’s defense. This game shouldn’t affect your bracket much, since they will lose to Louisville.

Prediction: Liberty Flames
