2013 March Madness: LIU Brooklyn vs. James Madison

LIU BrooklynThe #16 play-in game has LIU Brooklyn(20-13) facing James Madison (20-14).

The winner of this game faces #1 Indiana Hoosiers.

The winner of this play-in game will not defeat the Hoosiers, but you will need to pick a winner on your bracket. We will break down this game and pick the winner.

Who do you think will win? We help you out.

LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds are making their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Teams making their first appearance usually don’t fare well, but this was before the invention of the play-in game.

The Blackbirds can flat out score. They are 5th in the nation in points per game (79.5). That being said, they don’t play defense. They didn’t face a single team that is appearing in this year’s tournament. LIU Brooklyn is not strong from the perimeter, but take high-percentage shots inside.

LIU Brooklyn was 12-6 in conference play this season. Robert Morris won the regular season Northeast conference title, but RMU were upset by Mount St. Mary’s in the Northeast tournament.

The James Madison Dukes won’t dazzle you with their offense or defense. Their non-conference schedule included UCLA and Richmond, but they lost both contests. They had one of the easiest schedules in the country (SOS: 267).

I predict LIU Brooklyn will confuse James Madison with their offense. Jamal Olasewere and C.J. Garner will impress a lot of college basketball enthusiasts. The Blackbirds will run circles around Rayshawn Goins and the rest of his James Madison teammates.

Prediction: LIU Brooklyn
