The #13 play-in game has Boise State (21-10) playing La Salle (21-9).
The winner of this game plays #4 Kansas State Wildcats.
The winner of this game will be an interesting upset pick. Both Boise State and La Salle faced stiff conference competition and will come ready to play.
Who do you think will win? We help you out.
Before the selection show, I didn’t have the Boise State Broncos in the tournament. They do have wins against Creighton, Colorado State and UNLV on their resumé, but had bad losses to cancel those out.
BSU relies heavily on the three-point shot. Anthony Drmic and Jeff Elorriaga combined for 162 three-pointers this season. They lack size, so they have to be hot shooting to win big games.
The La Salle Explorers haven’t been this good since 1990. Back then, future NBA player Lionel Simmons was the star of the team. I compare this team to that one because they have an inside-outside game. With an RPI Ranking of #46, La Salle could have received a higher seed.
I’ve watched a few La Salle games and Ramon Galloway has impressed me. The South Carolina transfer has been the best player on the team the last two seasons. He plays good defense, can slash to the hoop and knock down the three.
I’m picking La Salle to beat Boise State. The Broncos are 1-9 against teams in the RPI Top 50. La Salle has a more talented roster with a balanced offense. If Boise State can’t drain threes, they won’t win games.
Prediction: La Salle Explorers
