The Big Ten had a big year. Many of their teams sprinkled the Top 25 all year. Wisconsin didn’t start out the year hot, but finished strong in usual Wisconsin fashion.
The ACC has some of the best teams in the nation. A few are expected to go deep into the tourney. Pitt didn’t have a strong conference record, but they come into the NCAA Tournament battle-tested.

The Wisconsin Badgers saw their long-time head coach Bo Ryan step down after a rough non-conference schedule. Greg Gard took over and started off the Big Ten season going 1-4. They righted the ship and finished going 11-2. They got hot at the right time.
The Pitt Panthers are about as mediocre of a NCAA Tournament at-large team as they come. I’m not sure if they would have receive a bid if they didn’t beat Duke in late-February. Pitt does one thing really well and that is moving the ball around.
Wisconsin may not be as strong as many of their past teams, but they shouldn’t have too much trouble with Pitt. They both move the ball well, but Nigel Hayes will make sure Wisconsin finishes at the basket. The Badgers will move onto the second round.
Prediction: #7 Wisconsin Badgers
