Super Bowl 50 – Betting Picks Against Spread & Prop Bets

SB50I LOVE prop bets. I actually get more joy out of betting Super Bowl prop bets than betting against the spread. Yes, most are a crap shoot, but with the right research, you can end up winning a bet with very favorable odds.

I’m not saying you can research who will win the coin toss, but there are many other player and team prop bets out there that have nice odds.

Some prop bets aren’t worth the money (the vig isn’t worth the slight risk), but sometimes you just have to lay a few bucks down, cross your fingers and wish for the best.

I picked out some of the most popular (and the most absurd) prop bets for Super Bowl 50. We also pick the game against the spread.

Let me know if you’re betting any of these props. Good luck!

How Long Will Lady Gaga’s National Anthem Last?

Over 136.5 Seconds
Under 136.5 Seconds

I usually always go with the under. Nerves get the performer and they usually rush through it. This line is already 15 seconds over last year’s anthem over/under. I think the under is a smart bet.

Prediction: UNDER

How Many Viewers in Millions Will Watch Super Bowl XLIX?

Over 116.5 Million Viewers
Under 116.5 Million Viewers

Last year’s Super Bowl was one of the most-watched Super Bowls in history. I’m going to guess that this one will be watched by many millions as well since it could be Peyton’s last game.

Prediction: OVER

Which Region Will Have a Higher Nielson Rating?

– Charlotte (-105)
– Denver (-135)

I’m going to guess Denver will win this duel. I’m even going to go out on a limb and guess Indianapolis will have a higher Nielson rating than both.

Prediction: Denver

What Color Gatorade Will be Dumped on the Winning Head Coach?

Orange (Even)
Clear/Water (+500)
Yellow (+550)
Red (+800)
Blue (+250)
Green (+1000
Purple (+1000)

I’m usually good at picking this prop bet. I think it’s a two-man race between orange and blue. I’m putting jellybeans on blue.

Prediction: BLUE

Coin Toss?

Heads (-101)
Tails (-101)

I’m usually a Heads guy, but I’m going to switch it up and go with Tails this year.

Prediction: TAILS

Which Team Will Score First?

Panthers (-140)
Broncos (+110)

I have a feeling the Broncos will kick a field goal to score the first points of Super Bowl 50.

Prediction: BRONCOS

Super Bowl MVP Odds

Cam Newton (-160)
Peyton Manning (+360)
Luke Kuechly (+1800)
Jonathan Stewart (+2000)
Von Miller (+2000)
C.J. Anderson (+2500)
Emmanuel Sanders (+3000)
Greg Olsen (+3000)
Ted Ginn Jr. (+3000)
Brandon McManus (+4000)
DeMarcus Ware (+4000)
Demaryius Thomas (+4000)
Aqib Talib (+4500)
Corey Brown (+5000)
Graham Gano (+6500)
Josh Norman (+7500)
Ronnie Hillman (+8000)
Owen Daniels (+10000)
Brandon Marshall (+12500)
Chris Harris Jr. (+12500)
Danny Trevathan (+15000)
Devin Funchess (+15000)
Jerricho Cotchery (+15000)
Kurt Coleman (+15000)
Thomas Davis (+15000)
Brock Osweiler (+17500)
Charles Johnson (+20000)
Derek Wolfe (+20000)
Cortland Finnegan (+30000)
Jordan Norwood (+35000)
Robert McClain (+35000)

This award has historically gone to a quarterback. There have been random defensive backs to get the award over the last few decades, but the safe bet is always a quarterback. If Denver gets close and somehow clinches it in the last second, Peyton will probably automatically get it.

Longshot Prediction: AQIB TALIB

Which Team Will Win Against The Spread?

– Denver Broncos (+6)
– Carolina Panthers (-6)

The reason Denver is such a big underdog is because Carolina blew out Arizona by so much. Both defenses are stout and I think one late turnover could win the game. I’m not sure if Denver can win it, but it will be close. I’m taking the points.

Prediction: DENVER BRONCOS (+6)
